Mission Statement

The Joseph T. Neary Memorial Foundation was founded during the 51st Annual International SKAL(*) Congress held in Colombo, Sri Lanka (October 28 – November 2, 1990) to be a permanent memorial to the memory of Joe Neary and to provide a source of regular dependable income for the Sri Lankan Community of Apostolic Carmel Sisters in their work caring for some of the very poor and under privileged children in Colombo and other areas of poverty in Sri Lanka. Aid could be provided for the benefit of children as young as 3 months old up to the final year of high school.

Our History

The Joseph T. Neary Memorial Charity was founded in Colombo, Sri Lanka in November 1990 during the 51st International SKAL Congress to provide for the relief from suffering for some of Colombo’s poor, inner-city children and to assist a small group of Apostolic Carmelite Sisters in providing nursery and pre-school day care facilities for these children from ages 4 months to five years.

Donations

 

 

Any Clubs or individuals interested in sending a donation to the Joe Neary Memorial Charity can send a check, preferably in U.S. Dollars or Euros, payable to "Carmel Piyuma Convent ". Please make sure that the funds are designated for the 'Joe Neary Memorial Charity'.
